Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I've been to many tex-mex. this one not good. The Fajitas is not good at all. I can't even smell the Fajitas. Over prices. I'm very disappointed.

I use to go here a lot back in the day to dine in and I just found out they freaking DELIVER! OMG, i'm in Salvadorean heaven. We found out they started delivering like 2 weeks ago and I think we have order about 6 times since then. Being Salvadorean and a pupusa lover...Los Chorros is about as good as it gets. I love it! I think the pupusas are probably better than Dona Azucena in LP. Definitely better than the joints in this area. Don't hesitate....check this place out!

This was my second time to LC. Years ago, I went with my mother, and the recall he experience being ok. I recently returned to LC to use a coupon for 50% off dinner and drinks. I was really surprised that the place was full of Latin families, and couples (normally a good sign in a Latin restaurant)-- because the food at LC is just not representative of good or great Latin food! I am sure many of the ladies dining in the restaurant could do mush better in their own kitchens at home! Specifics: * The tomatoes in the salad were green, hard, and flavorless -- this may have been passable in winter -- but during tomato season! * Salad dressing was lousy "italian" dressing from a bottle, like what you would get in hospital or school lunch! *Chips were stale. * The pickled cabbage slaw normally served with Pupusa, was also out of a jar -- boring and flavorless -- such a disapointment -- since the Pupusa was very tasty! * My patner's chicken dish was very boring and flavorless. * Mostly it was just the lack of wow -- everything was very average. * The one really redeeming thing, was the excellent golden margaritas we enjoyed -- perfect! * Service was poor to average -- but I expect this from most ethnic restaurants in Wheaton, no surprises here. As someone who has a formal culinary background, I know the delights of fine Latin cookery -- what I got a LC is beneath their capability! Thank goodness we only had to pay 50% for our meal! I will have to find another place in Wheaton for great Latin food -- fortunately, there are many to choose from -- pass, on Los Chorros!

its ok. Got a spread of food, wasn't impressed. I've had mexican food and this is not it. The margarita's even sucked. will not go back again
(2)Matt J.
You'll never find this place without a map, it's in a basement on a back street. The food was just ok. I had grilled chicken tacos, don't get those! It's just pieces of chicken on a tortilla served with guacamole. Salsa was good, but the whole thing was a little expensive for what it was. The pupusas were very good though, much better than the tacos.
(2)Simon S.
Excellent coffee, lots of seating, close to public parking. I had the huevos rancheros, which was cheap ($9) and filling.

This place seems to have gone downhill in the past couple of years. When I first started to come here the service was good, and the place seemed to have a decent amount of customers, never packed but certainly not empty. But then I noticed that most weekdays they would only have the small part of the dinning room opened with maybe 2 or 3 other groups there, and eventually they started to mess up orders, and this last time I went the service was pretty bad, especially considering how slow of a night it was. Really could use a food, service, and decor makeover these days, margaritas are still really good at least.

Again, I'm sending out props to my Yelping tribe. Big kudos to the Yelp app on my iphone which led us to Los Chorros on an early Friday evening. The space is a little funky, housed underneath an office building with a side street entrance and pseudo-basement feel. Once inside you'll find a fairly large dining room. The decor is very casual and really uninspired, with the exception of the art that hangs on the walls. You might be tempted to not to notice the paintings, but take a minute. They are very good and prolific, depicting a plethora of scenes from El Salvador. The cuisine here is Mexican-Salvadorean. I would skip the Mexican half of that equation and dive right into the Salvadorean options. Really good pupusas are a great way to start. We had the refried bean and cheese pupusa along with the cheese and jalapeno pupusa. Both were exquisite, ultra fresh and hot, and made even better with the house made curtido (Vinegar cole slaw). The ubiquitous chips and salsa are very good. For entrees, I had the Chile Relleno ala Salvadoreno. A large mild pepper stuffed with ground beef and rice and wrapped in a omelet. Similar to the traditional Mexican style, but much more interesting. I would have preferred a spicier chile, but all in all a good dish. My dining partner in crime had the grilled chicken with enchilada. Also very good. We will definitely hit Los Chorros again.

I've been going here for a while. Not a big fan of spanish food really but the Ceviche is to die for! The Ceviche is on point. I would travel from VA all the way to Wheaton, MD just for the Ceviche! It's so good. I do agree with others, it is a family oriented restaurant. My boyfriend loves the pupusas. I've taken lots of friends here and there is a little something here for everyone to love. But me personally, hands down, I love the ceviche!
(3)El D.
I've been going to Los Chorros since I was a kid. Now I bring my wife and kids here to. It's a very kid friendly place with a huge salt water fish tank that my kids love finding "nemo" in. The pupusas are by far the best I've ever tasted and will only eat them there. The jalapeno and cheese pupusas are my favorite and i havn't found them anywhere else. The margaritas are also top notch, though I usually go for the cadillac margaritas. I've probably tried every dish at this place and have never been disappointed. The service is friendly and they don't seem to mind if your kids run around the place. My favorite Latin restaurant by far. If you have a big family like mine you'll also love that they have seating for like 200 people, so there's always room.
(5)N P.
Great food. Cheap. Large portions. Servers who will speak in Spanish to Americans who are practicing their Spanish which was a plus for me!!
(4)Raul S.
Good food and great service. Loved the matiscada one of the best I ever had around this area. They also deliver that just a plus on my book. Got to love the Latino food to your door.
(4)Brutus M.
This is a friendly fun intimate restaurant that has great food. They have great authentic food for great prices, definitely the jewel of Wheaton. I've gone here for family dinners, dates and lunches and its always good. I remember I had some of my family visiting and they put on a soccer game for us to watch while we ate.
(5)Andrew K.
Some of the best food Wheaton has to offer and at a fantastic price. I recommend their pupusas, by far the best I've had in the area. Friendly staff and comfortable environment.
(5)Eld S.
Wife and I absolutely love this place. Our favorite restaurant in Wheaton. Just remember it's a Salvadoran restaurant and not Tex-Mex. Get the pupusas and Salvadoran specialties. The fried plantains are out of this world!
(5)Nick S.
Frankly, I'm a little upset that I'm not eating there right now. My wife and I started with Pupusa (pollo con queso), then got the Especial Doña Reina and Especial Intipuca, which I assume are Salvadoran Spanish for "Incredible Plates of Meat." Hers had steak, sausage, and egg, and mine had skewered steak, chicken, and chorizo. All of it was fantastic. It seems very friendly, and family-friendly as well. We'll be back soon.
(5)John And Mindy S.
Website says they deliver, menu says they deliver, yelp says they deliver. When you call, you get bassically a meh we dont feel like it today so no.... Food tasted old, and to be homest a franchise like chipotle or baja fresh even has better food. Not authentic at all.
(1)L'enfant S.
My best friend turned me onto this place and its fucking amazing order the guacamole and the pupasas It will make your stomach very happy
(5)Jeancarlo V.
Best latin food ever the tortillas was habd made the flavor pure latino... Definitily y'll got to try this place, specially the intipuca special and the margaritas especial los chorros that was my favorite
(5)Allison S.
My husband introduced me to this place 8 years ago on our second date. He is Salvadoran and insisted that I try pupusas for the first time. I loved them! The pupusas here are stuffed with cheese and the curtido and salsa taste very fresh. We have eaten pupusas at LOTS of places in the last 8 years, but no one makes them as well as this place (shhh...don't tell my mother in law I said that)! The service has been amazing every time we go there. The servers are attentive and polite. The restaurant always looks clean and presentable, including the bathrooms. There are not many places where the service and food are consistently great. I highly recommend this restaurant! Side note: their plantains, horchata, and steak are also very good
(5)Kimmie A.
This is an update on my review The place is getting bad now I been here many time usually for carryout but they not what they use to be. My boyfriend would order on the phone to talk with someone to place an order, they are really rude on the phone and in person the boss man is the main one who rude they only want ur money and not if ur satisfied. also when u have a question on ur order they would hang up on you. This didn't happen one time but three times. The waiter and waitress are the only kind one but duh they have to be for TIPS.... I'm just saying there food are good but I wouldn't come back here ANYMORE
(2)Bob B.
Delicious tacos here. The Al Carbon and the Lengua (beef tongue) tacos are money. They come with rice and refried beans. I lived in Texas for a bit, so i am pretty picky when it come to tacos. There are a lot of crappy little Mexican places in the area, so it's nice to find a place that makes authentic Mexican food made right. The prices are a little steep but it's worth it for food that tastes great.
(4)Stacy M.
This place was recommended by a friend, who lives in the area, and we've never had Salvadoran food, to our knowledge, so we were excited to eat here. They also had a large selection of Mexican food. The service was friendly enough and the decor was cheerful. We ordered about 5 different pupusas between the 3 of us, and the corn was the favorite of the table. The guacamole dip with deep fried chips were pretty tasty. My salad in a tortilla shell was lack-luster. The food is pretty heavy and if that is what you are looking for, this place is for you. Maybe I'm not used to a heavy stomach, and that could be just me? I would give 3.5 stars if I could.
(4)Anita W.
I liked the pork pupusa here, but the salsa was watery, the tamale was mostly corn and potato (very little meat), the rice was oily, and my husband's steak wasn't all that good. The kids meals are all french fries and burgers/nuggets/hot dogs. Not a great Mexican or Salvadoran experience. The slaw was pretty good. The kids liked the fish tank with Nemo fish in it.
(2)Karla M.
This place is amazing! Every single plate I have ordered here has met my expectations! The Especial Doña Reina and Especial Intibuca are definitely my top favorites! Their waiter is so nice and funny he definitely made our dinner pleasant.
(5)Corey W.
Awesome food. Very clean restaurant. Extremely authentic food. Got the caviche and pupusas. Pupusas were stuffed to the brim and only 2 bucks. Larger then most I have seen. The slaw was delicious. Not to tart and vinegary. Will be back for sure.
(5)Angie T.
This place is wonderfully authentic with the nicest staff you'll ever experience. The food was absolutely delicious and you get a generous portion for each dish. Plus, there's a great check-in deal! A must get is their Ensalada (punch with diced fruit). It's like a vigin sangria! Very refreshing and delicious. I also had their Langosta Rellena/Stuffed Lobster, it was enough to share! So be sure to go hungry! Parking can be a little tough in the area as the parking lot is fairly small and street parking close to the restaurant is fairly limited.
(4)Lina K.
Really friendly service, huge menu and good food that won't break the bank. The yelp 15% discount was a great bonus since our senior neighbor was treating us. Thanks!
(4)K B.
This is where my husband and I go for date night when we want to stay in the area. The food and the service are always great every time we go.
(5)Andrew M.
Have been here twice. Nice mix of Tex-Mex and Salvadorian dishes. Best Dishes: --Papusas are great! (I actually preferred the smaller sized one to the large one) --Wings (i.e., chicken wings) were outstanding (done perfectly; crispy, but not dried out) Good Dishes: --Chicharron con yucca was a little hit-or-miss; was delicious the first time we had it; pork seemed a little smaller/harder/over-cooked the second time --The Salvadoran combo plate is a good dish; good value; lots of variety --Chef's tacos combo - the lengua taco was outstanding; the beef taco was very good; the chicken taco was pretty flavorless and meh Meh Dishes: --Steak fajitas weren't terribly impressive (flavor seemed off) --Pastelito de Carne -- was fried and greasy and not that good. Good family/kids place. Service is decent and fairly quick. Price is moderate (if not high, consider the decor). We always over-order here... Decor is a little grimy/cheap feeling... lighting is sort of dim (this place is in a basement, of sorts). Plenty of parking in the nearby lot, and is free after 6pm.

Will probably never eat here again; there are just far better restaurants in walking distance. We ordered chicken tamales, a shrimp and crab enchilada and nachos (with ground beef). The chicken tamales were somewhat decent (nice flavor but the chicken was rubbery) and overpriced. The shrimp and crab enchilada was a watery, overly cheesy, laughable mess and the ground beef nachos were a bland, oily, congealed plate (which, if you eat nachos you know is a bad sign if you haven't even touched them yet) of inedible slop. In all fairness I did eyeball some of the other patron's meals which honestly looked far more appetizing than anything we ordered (a few hearty looking bowls of soups and a couple of orders of fajitas) but nothing that gave me enough confidence to want to try Los Churros again.
(1)Julie D.
I was a bit hesitant to come here because I wasn't sure if there was a wide vegetarian selection and did not want to order a vegetarian dish that was 90% cheese (vegetarian enchilada, chile relleno, etc). Although vegetarian options exist; they are far and few between on the Los Chorros menu. The vegetable fajitas sounded a bit boring, so I ended up ordering the vegetarian chimichanga. Although not deep fried like a traditional chimichanga, it was a flour tortilla filled with grilled zucchini, broccoli, and cauliflower, and cheese, albeit not too much cheese, served with dolups of sour cream on the burrito. The burrito was surprising good and I would recommend this dish to anyone who is looking for an alternative to vegetarian Mexican dish. The beans had a smokey flavor; which made them interesting and the side of rice and picco de gallo was also prepared well. Other than the two dishes mentioned above, if you allow yourself to eat eggs, the only other vegetarian friendly dishes on the menu on th are ensalada fiesta (sans chicken), combinacion Guanaca (beans, rice, sour cream, eggs, tomatoes, green peppers, onions), and huevos rancheros. My boyfriend had the tacos al carbon (three corn tortillas with carved beef steak, served with rice, beans, pico de gallo, and guacamole). I sampled the guacamole and it tasted fresh. I was told that the beef steak was on the dry side; however, my boyfriend said he didn't have any complaints about his dish. This is definitely the best Mexican I have had in the Silver Spring/Bethesda area. Although I agree with other reviewers that the ambiance is lacking, I do believe that the food makes up for it.
(4)Leslie C.
My husband decided to take me here since I had never been. Server was very friendly. I got the salmon, shrimp & scallops in cream sauce which came with white rice & steamed broccoli. It was AMAZING! The portion was also a lot, gave me 2 pieces of salmon so I was able to take leftovers to enjoy all over again, lol. Only thing is that the food did take a bit long to come out but then again it was a Friday night & there were a lot of people.
(4)Ben O.
A Wheaton treasure. Super friendly staff and great food. Really diverse menu, with Mexican, tex-mex, and Salvadoran dishes. Everything is good, best pupusas in Wheaton.
(5)Sara R.
I used to like this place before they expanded with a additional room. They used to put more love into the food and I definitely miss that! I have had times where the food is really good and then times when it's mediocre. I have been there maybe twice in the past three years. More so, out of convenience. The staff is friendly. Good place for big groups.
(3)John E.
This is a below average Mexican restaurant. We were craving Mexican food so we decided to give this place a try. Especially since I had a coupon that I could use. We ordered two main dishes and an appetizer. Their Quezadilla was not very good. The cheese didn't taste good. I have had better Quezadillas even from my school's food court! Their Veggie Chimichanga was also not tasty at all. I forgot the other dish that we ordered but that didn't taste good either. Even their beans and rice didn't taste good. The only reason that they get a 2-star instead of a 1-star is that their plantain was good. I will definitely not go back.
(2)Chrissy L.
Came here on Cinco De Mayo and it was fun! It was a large place with lots of families. And they had the NBA playoffs on. Ordered the enchilada del pollo and the portion was huge! It was pretty good but I do wish it was drenched in more sauce. The portions in general were large. I really liked their Tamarindo! Out waiter was helpful and nice even though he was quite busy. It is definitely a place to sit down for a while. I will be back to use the 15% off entire bill unlock, since they didn't take it for cinco de mayo.
(4)Luis A.
This place is magnificent! The pupusas her are soon delicious and they are huge. The burritos are so good. Their portions are really good here. The tacos de lengua, pollo, steak are all great and I recommend coming to this place. The atmosphere is very Spanish and their waiters are nice ad attentive. They have a full bar as well if your into that. I love coming here because all the food I've tried here is excellent. Definitely you need to try los choros.
(5)Mike C.
I really wanted to like this restaurant because it's a short walk from where I live. But it's not a good sign when the chips are cold and hard and the watery salsa is just terrible! I ordered the cheese enchiladas because, you can't mess them up, right? Bland, lukewarm, and covered with a heaping mound of sour cream. If you need to disguise the taste of your enchiladas under something that doesn't belong on them, you've got serious troubles. The margarita I had was pretty tasty so I gave them two stars. Otherwise, this is a solid one star kinda place.
(2)Stephanie S W.
Yum Yum Yum all the way to effing delicious town. The ceviche is AWESOME and the enchiladas verdes are delicious. Also, Chef's tacos are great - if you're adventurous and want to dry cow tongue. The restaurant itself can look pretty sketch from outside, with a blue overhang in the midst of nothingness... don't worry - walk down the stairs and enjoy!
(5)Elias V.
Alright, I'm glad I came back. No really, I am. Over the many years Los Chorros had the same menu. In my last visit a few Years back that was the case and often time selection was limited. Service often times was debatable based upon demeanor of who was serving your party. Much has changed, new menu, more choices, more diversity well more of that Spanish Cha Cha Cha Flavor. This place added color and character to their selection of food. I'm glad that I can say my mind got changed about Los Chorros. What sets you apart in my opinion is having that unique character to your cuisine. They have beyond accomplished that. Our waiter, was prompt, attentive and efficient. From greeting us very quick upon arrival, taking our orders in a timely manner and not having no issues whatsoever. Our food was to all of our liking and everyone enjoyed what they individually ordered. From Pupusas w/Jalapeño and Cheese which I had never tried to their bold and flagship Sopa de Marisco. They have somewhat upgraded and re-decorated slightly. New Fish Tank, first thing I noticed. They have always kept it in the same spot. I like the changed and the flavor Los Chorros has implemented. Manager in previous review asked me back, I give a standing ovation and kudos to the changes. I should have came sooner since my last visit, but I now know and appreciate this spot wholeheartedly. Thanks guys.

We came here for a late lunch on Saturday and ordered the chef's tacos, lengua tacos, beef chimichanga, and tres leches cake. The chips and salsa we had were standard; found the salsa a bit strange since it was so runny. I was pleasantly surprised by the chef's tacos which consisted of steak, chicken, and beef tongue. The tacos were dressed well with pico de gallo and avocado; the protein was moist while still maintaining a crispy, charred exterior. The tortillas of the tacos were not overly dry, and had a good consistency. The rice and beans that came with the tacos were passable, nothing amazing. So in summary, the tacos were very good and something that I would definitely order again. The beef chimichanga was disappointing; the beef inside was dry and stringy, making the chimichanga very difficult to chew and cut. The overall flavor of it was a bit lacking as well. The salad and rice that came with it were very standard. This review would have been 4 stars had we not tried this dish. So I had to detract a star due to this dish. The tres leches cake was quite good. It wasn't quite as wet/moist as other versions I've had at La Brasa and other hispanic bakeries but it was still pleasant and we finished it quickly. Lastly, the service at the restaurant was very good.
(3)Judy H.
The atmosphere is inviting and the food delicious sans breaking the bank! We had a last minute-large celebration there Wednesday and they could not have been more accommodating and friendly. I highly recommend.
(5)Miguel T.
I have always LOVED this restaurant until tonight. My sister came all the way from NYC and me and my entire family were planning to have dinner here tonight. We called at 7pm to make sure they could sit us at 10pm. We showed up and they told us they had closed because there was no one there. They knew they had a large party expecting to come at 10pm and they still closed. I hope they can do something about what we have experienced and gain our trust back.
(1)Phi N.
Half the menu seems to come with eggs... they should change the name from Los Chorros to Los Huevos... Anyway, we came here and a whole bunch of items. Started off with pupusas, ceviche, and shrimp quesadillas. I didn't try the last item, but the first 2 were decent. The pupusas had a good filling but I I've had better ceviche. It wasn't bitter enough, and it was also a bit small-- I probably wouldn't order it here again, which is kind of disappointing bc I really like ceviche. For my main course, I ordered the beef steak al caballo. I'm glad my main course was also the most enjoyable dish I ordered. Steak with plantains, beans and rice with an egg on top...mmM. I'll be back to try other items.
(3)Jeana C.
Great guacomole dip! We had Fajita mar and tierra. Pretty good. Service was great and atomsphere is casual. Will come again.
(4)Merly T.
Pupusas and the enchiladas platter were very tasty unfortunately I cannot say the same about carne asada. The steak was hard and difficult to chew. Service was good however I was very upset at the end. We waited about 20 minutes to get our bill. I had the Yelp 15% off entire bill coupon But for some reason took way 2 long to make the discount on my check. Make sure you tell your server at the beginning about your discount if you are using one.
(3)Allen G.
I have been coming to Los Chorros for more than 20 years. The food is terrific, the portions are large and the prices are affordable. My favorite dish is the mariscada (seafood stew). The best part of the experience is the wait staff - especially Juan and Joshua - are super friendly and accommodating. Well worth the drive to Wheaton.
(5)Jason W.
This is a mix of positive ratings for many visits combined with 1 star for our last visit in May 2013. We have lived in Wheaton since 2001, and Los Chorros was always a favorite. Generally, it's family-friendly, the pupusas are excellent, and the other food is definitely good, if not unique. I particularly like the mariscada. My daughter often got to wear the big hat on many birthdays spent there. We have not been back, however, since our last visit. In May 2013, my family and elderly in-laws went to the restaurant. I had a nice chat with co-owner Omar as we entered. Unfortunately, that was the last pleasant part of our experience. The first, less important issue to us was a food problem. My wife is vegetarian and ordered the then-new veggie fajitas, which are supposed to have Portobello mushroom. There was no mushroom, Portobello or otherwise. We did not complain because by the time the food arrived, we were in a hurry, which brings me to the main point. We felt like we were not important to, and disrespected by, our server, especially compared to the other customers she was serving. First, it took a little while to get menus and take drink orders, but that by itself was not a big deal. When she came to take the food order, she realized she forgot her pad and went to get it, which also wouldn't normally be a big deal. But this is when things started going bad. Instead of returning to our table, she gave menus to another table. Then she went to another table, talked and joked with them for several minutes, took some orders, and went back to the bar. Then she started making drinks, presumably for the table with whom she was just chatting. We waited another couple of minutes. She kept making drinks. Frustrated by being ignored for other tables after she had initially come to our table and just needed to get her pad, I walked to the bar and explained that we were in a little bit of a rush and needed to leave by 7:30. Shortly after, she came to our table to take our order. We ordered and waited as we saw the other table (the one she was friendly to) get their food. And we waited. When the food finally arrived about 45 minutes after we had arrived, we asked for boxes and the check. She seemed surprised. I again explained that we were in a rush and said we would not be able to finish our meals there. Though we got the bill and boxes quickly, she didn't come to get the bill, which was being charged to my credit card. After waiting again, eventually my wife took the bill and walked over to find someone who could charge us. Our waitress passed my wife as she was walking with the bill but did not ask to take it. Instead she started clearing the table and I told her that my wife had the bill and that we really needed to go. Shortly after, the card was charged, we left, and we were only a few minutes late in getting our daughter to her school for their spring concert. To sum up, we felt resented and unwelcome at Los Chorros and had never felt that way before. I wrote about our disappointing experience in a comment sent to Los Chorros via its website, but I have never received a response. We have not returned.

I always have loved this restaurant. I try to visit frequently. It used to get more business in the past and now they deliver which is a nice but delivery does take a pretty long time. Overall the food is great and the staff is always nice. Probably one of the best pupusas in the area, and in the middle of wheaton there are a lot of places to choose from. Prices are quite affordable, I would be willing to pay more for the quality food they deliver. More of a family location, not much of a place for a romantic evening. Repeat customer.
(4)Faye F.
To be fair, I would give it a 3 1/2. This was my 2nd time here (just the other day). I only remember getting maybe 2 pupusas my first time here (always pork & cheese). I think I thought they were ok (a positive "ok"). The other day, I went with a group. I believe I got the Steak al Caballo (steak with a fried egg on top, pico de gallo, white rice, beans, plantains). I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, as did the rest of us. Before I describe my food, I tasted the shrimp from someone's fajitas.....yuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmm! Ok. Back to my food. I asked our young waiter to please fry my egg well because I did not want it runny. He listened and it came out the way I wanted. Plus. I asked to substitute my beans for avacados. He listened and I got quite a few slices of avacado. Aaaand my avacado was freshly green. Plus. Additionally, some others substituted the beans for salad and there salad came with a bit of avacado... maybe a slice or two. I asked for my steak medium. I know how steak comes out at a lot of the latin restaurants so if you don't want it hard, tough or overdone, get it medium (don't worry... it will be done more than medium). My plantains were soft (just the way I like them). Plus. I hate hard plantains... they are useless and bleh. Bottom line, my food was really good. I tore up what I could. Took the rest home. Got home and tore up the rest. I must also add the ensalada (the name is always weird to me becasue I know ensalada to be salad), which is that fruit drink/juice with the diced fruit in it. Oh my gosh. Mmmmmmmm mmmmmm good! Very yummy and refreshing. We got two pitchers. Why only three stars? Well the prices of their meals are like restaurant prices (I knwo they are a restaurant but they don't look like it; can't quite explain it). I would expect the price of what I got to be more like $10. It was $15. Because of that, I would never go there for a real meal. There are much better latin style restaurants that I go to. The pupusas were like $2. That sounds cheap, but I don't pay $2 for pupusas; I pay less. And I already have my favorite places for pupusas. I went here for a work lunch; therefore, I would only come here again for the same reason. But truthfully, if someone said, I pick Los Churros, I may or may not say ok. I forgot to add that the chips and salsa leave much to be desired. The salsa was nothing but straight up liquid (like tomato soup consistency) with like 4 tomato pieces in it. That's all. Thanks.

I really like this place, It's one of my favorite hispanic restaurant. I had their enchiladas super de pollo and it was sooo yummy. Defnitly a place to go when you are in the neighborhood. There are about 10 hispanic resturant around the wheaton area.

If I could give this three and a half stars, I would. Three seems too few, so four it is. Three of us went to Los Chorros tonight and had an enjoyable dinner. Not an extraordinary dinner -- it's not going to forever alter our sense of Mexican and Salvadorean food -- but it was perfectly pleasant. Prices are very moderate; multiple drinks, appetizer, and entrees for three adults came to $75. I'd say the weakest element to the evening was the service. It was friendly and well-meant, but very slow and disorganized. The feel is very family-friendly -- there were lots of young families with children there tonight. That made it a little loud, at times, but not unreasonably so for a Friday night. It's a casual space and a relaxed environment. Parking is fairly abundant nearby, which is a help. The menu is surprisingly extensive, with a broad range of both Mexican and Salvadorean items. More seafood than you often see in Mexican restaurants in this area, which was a nice surprise. One weakness; the wine options are EXTREMELY limited. Our experience with the food itself was mostly very good. Guacamole was chunky and flavorful, with fresh still-warm chips (though the salsa is not a winner -- very thin and runny and weak-flavored). My fried sea bass was delicious; great light crispy texture, tender flakey flesh, very nicely seasoned. The trios enchiladas and the chicken chimichanga both were well received, also. Overall, Los Chorros seemed to us to be a pleasant, affordable dinner experience, and we'll undoubtedly be going back.

There aren't many places in Wheaton that are as family friendly as this place. The dining area is geared towards the dining clientele, and not the alkies as is the case with other places in the neighborhood. The waiters are friendly, helpful, and professional, which I find refreshing. The food is excellent, the flavor profile is very Salvadoran. What does that mean? It is typically earthy and comforting food, not geared towards blowing up your senses like spicy Mexican or Thai food. Being very familiar with Salvadoran food, I think this is some of the best example of the cuisine in the area. Anyone who doesn't think so, doesn't know Salvadoran food and hasn't developed an appreciation for this more subtle type of food. In summary, if you want a good, wholesome environment where you can enjoy excellent Salvadoran food with the family, friends or co-workers, this is a great option.
(5)Wvboy S.
Everything is top notch at Los Chorros . Steak and shrimp are a great value . I wouldn't label this as salvadorean or Rex mex but the new American cuisine!
(4)Seema G.
I cannot understand how this place is getting good ratings. The place looks like a dive. I thought this place could be one of those hole in the wall places that could turn out to be great. Well, this was not the case for sure. The salsa was mostly just sauce and barely had any onions, tomatoes, etc,... I ordered the huevos rancheros which was extremely bland and boring. I've had much better at other places. We also ordered the veggie chimichanga enchilada style. All they did was put cheese on top but no sauce which could have been fine but it was also very bland and boring. As another reviewer mentioned, it did shock me that there were several Latin Americans in this place. Luckily we had one of those living social or groupon deals that made the food cheaper than it would have been. Do not bother going here unless you like boring and bland food.
(1)Travis K.
I like this place. The basic half-chicken with fries and coleslaw is a tasty bargain. The thing I don't like is the way they pass "Everfresh" bottled drinks off as real fruit juice, which they are not; they're only 10% juice, with high-fructose corn syrup (unheathful garbage) the second ingredient after water. If it weren't for this fact, I'd give them four or even five stars.
(3)Natasha S.
I work really close by, and have probably ordered lunch from her a handful of times. Maybe even more to be honest... This place is a winner with my office mates which is how I was introduced. They deliver, and promptly at that which is excellent for busy all day meeting days :) The service is good, and always very prompt. The prices are a tad high, but honestly probably one of the better if not best restaurants in this area. It's clean, and food is pretty good. I haven't tried too much off the menu, but very often order the Ensalada Fiesta which I really like, because the chicken is freshly grilled. I don't really care for the dressing much though, so I usually end up experimenting and creating my own simplified dressing. I've also tried the Quezadilla's and guacamole appetizer. I like the homemade chips that they serve because really, they're deep friend tortillas so they are nice and thick and overly greasy but yummy. Additionally, I've tried the Pupusas which I think are yummy. I prefer the simpler Cheese filling, but my co-workers really liked the Chicken with Jalapeno filling. My co-workers very often order the burritos and seem to love them. One of these days, when I'm feeling saucy I'd like to try their seafood entree's... probably more on a dine in basis. Not so much for delivery.

Thank you fellow Yelpers! I've been very happy with the discovery of Los Chorros as a delicious and easy source for fajitas, tamales, Mexican pizza, and other staples of the Mexican-Salvadoran hybrid cuisine in Maryland. We're only experienced takeout and delivery but have been very happy with both. The food has always fared well and other than a paucity of tortillas with the fajitas (just ordered an extra portion the next time), the chicken has been the tastiest we've had in all of the DMV. The location is a bit of out the way but there is plenty of parking behind the restaurant, which seems to be the case for all places in Wheaton- ample parking if you know where to look. Definitely look forward to trying more items on the menu, but the standbys have been very solid every time.
(5)Suzanne R.
I went on a Saturday Early evening - 4pm-ish....It eas EMPTY! Decor is 80's. Place is BIG. Food was A+! Service was fast & waiter was quite attentive. Papusa's are good. Not all dough...you could taste the filling. Food was flavorable & portions were generous but it wasn't better Salvadorian or Mexican you've had other places. It is worth going to and is GREAT for a group. There are 4-5 steps to go down to get in, but they do have a alley-way side door "handicapped" can go in. Although the terrain is rough so even if steps are a pain, it could be better then this alley.
(4)Jessica B.
yummy place to go for a dinner with the family. It wasn't busy and we were able to make a little noise and have a few beers. Our son just loved the Spanish rice and the fajitas were tasty.
(5)Ari Z.
Dinner was fantastic! The especial Dona reina was fantastic. The steak was a perfect medium rare and the eggs were nicely over easy. The beans and rice were a great compliment to the dish. My wife had the beans and cheese pupusa and loved it. The slaw was a very nice topping. Will definitely go back!

Living Social led us back to Los Chorros after a "meh" experience a few years ago, and I'm so glad we took the chance. It was AWESOME! After a friendly welcome, we noshed on fresh, hot chips and salsa while ordering 2 pork and cheese pupusas for apps. As you know, a good pupusa can't be rushed, but these came out in a reasonable timeframe - super tasty, hot, and ready to be slathered in pickled cabbage and carrots! Based on other Yelp reviews, we decided to stick to the Salvadorean side of the menu, so I ordered the Especial Intipuca and he got the Pollo a la Crema. My grill platter had the most perfectly seasoned steak and chicken, as well as sausage, delicious beans, and rice. Oh, the steak! It was so good. My mouth waters even now. The bf's chicken in cilantro cream sauce was also excellent, and I don't even really like cilantro. Add free delivery to the mix, and Los Chorros just landed on our "awesome places in Wheaton!" list.

We decided to try out Los Churros tonight. It's a Friday nite but we're early diners so there was no problem getting a table as there were only a few tables taken when we arrived. We shared a ceviche appetizer which was a very generous portion for 2 and loved it. It was tangy & fresh, definitely would order again. I ordered pollito burrito which was huge & stuffed with lots of chicken, tomatoes, avocados & cheese. It was fresh & flavorful & I brought half of it home it was so huge. My husband ordered especial intipuca, a variety platter that included skewered chicken, beef & veggies along with sausage, rice & beans. It was really good & also 1/2 of it came home with us. We will definitely be back. The only thing I didn't care for was the runny salsa, but I surely don't base my dining experience on chips & salsa! We will make this a spot we visit again.

I've been to many tex-mex. this one not good. The Fajitas is not good at all. I can't even smell the Fajitas. Over prices. I'm very disappointed.
(1)Nancy R.

Whoa - what a surprise, hidden gem in Wheaton! This place has quickly become our favorite latin american restaurant in the region - I highly recommend the combinacion salvadorena. So yummy - especially if you like platanos, authentic tamales and pupusas. The only 'complaints' I have are the following 1.) it's old-school to charge people for soda refills but they do, 2.) the salsa could be a little less watery and 3.) it seems to take a very long time to tab-out when you are done. But these three minor issues are well worth the delicious food and casual atmosphere.
(4)Camilo V.
Service was good, food was awesome, great place to eat.
(5)S. G.
Wow! This was delicious. Starting with the free chips - oh so good! The pupusas were literally the best I have had in the DC area (and I have had a lot). Tamales - terrific! And the service was very nice. I highly recommend it.

i took it as a good sign that this place was (a) really hard to find, (b) off-the-main-drag, and (c) a basement restaurant - BUT YET - still hoppin'. now i know why -- the menu is loaded with mexican/salvadorean cuisine. i went with their taste plate in the salvadorean section for my first visit - liked the papusa, but not a fan of the tamale and plantains (that's just me). expect a big meal! friendly staff is a big plus. just make sure you find out their drink/meal specials so that you can order a thick mango margarita (etc.) as they don't always advertise when they're at your table. picky things: their salsa is tasty (mmm, fresh cilantro), but wish it wasn't so runny. and i tend to like smaller, less open dining areas in terms of atmosphere... overall - a "good find" both in its hole-in-the-wall location, as well as the food it delivers.

(5)L'enfant S.
(1)Corey W.
(5)Julie D.

(5)Eld S.
Wife and I absolutely love this place. Our favorite restaurant in Wheaton. Just remember it's a Salvadoran restaurant and not Tex-Mex. Get the pupusas and Salvadoran specialties. The fried plantains are out of this world!
(5)Allen G.
(5)Stephanie S W.

The atmosphere is inviting and the food delicious sans breaking the bank! We had a last minute-large celebration there Wednesday and they could not have been more accommodating and friendly. I highly recommend.

(3)N P.
Great food.

(4)Elizabeth M.

Everything is top notch at Los Chorros . Steak and shrimp are a great value . I wouldn't label this as salvadorean or Rex mex but the new American cuisine!

That's all. Thanks.

(5)Bob B.

(2)Allison S.

Website says they deliver, menu says they deliver, yelp says they deliver. When you call, you get bassically a meh we dont feel like it today so no.... Food tasted old, and to be homest a franchise like chipotle or baja fresh even has better food. Not authentic at all.
(1)Corey W.
Awesome food. Very clean restaurant. Extremely authentic food. Got the caviche and pupusas. Pupusas were stuffed to the brim and only 2 bucks. Larger then most I have seen. The slaw was delicious. Not to tart and vinegary. Will be back for sure.

Really friendly service, huge menu and good food that won't break the bank. The yelp 15% discount was a great bonus since our senior neighbor was treating us. Thanks!

This is where my husband and I go for date night when we want to stay in the area. The food and the service are always great every time we go.
(5)Leslie C.

(4)Sara R.

(5)Merly T.

(4)N P.
Great food.
(5)Allen G.
(5)Stephanie S W.
(5)Seema G.

(5)javaone n.
I've been to many tex-mex. this one not good. The Fajitas is not good at all. I can't even smell the Fajitas. Over prices. I'm very disappointed.
(1)Nancy R.
(5)Faye F.
That's all. Thanks.
(3)SAM d.
I really like this place, It's one of my favorite hispanic restaurant. I had their enchiladas super de pollo and it was sooo yummy. Defnitly a place to go when you are in the neighborhood. There are about 10 hispanic resturant around the wheaton area.
(4)Travis K.
(4)Dan R.
(4)Deb G.
(4)Eduardo S.
Got a Shrimp & Crabmeat Quesadilla for 10 bux. No Complaints. Jalapeno & Queso pupusa is pretty dog-gone good too as an App.
(3)Erick A.
I like los chorros.. The atmosphere is nice and casual. The service is good and kid friendly The food is really tasty. although the pupusas at el tamarindo in adams morgan are better ;)
(5)Andi C.
(5)Eliya C.
Awesome environment. Great food. Try the homemade mango juice!
(5)Danielle K.
(3)athena d.
(2)Kristy P.
(3)Jeremy W.
(4)Camilo V.

i took it as a good sign that this place was (a) really hard to find, (b) off-the-main-drag, and (c) a basement restaurant - BUT YET - still hoppin'. now i know why -- the menu is loaded with mexican/salvadorean cuisine. i went with their taste plate in the salvadorean section for my first visit - liked the papusa, but not a fan of the tamale and plantains (that's just me). expect a big meal! friendly staff is a big plus. just make sure you find out their drink/meal specials so that you can order a thick mango margarita (etc.) as they don't always advertise when they're at your table. picky things: their salsa is tasty (mmm, fresh cilantro), but wish it wasn't so runny. and i tend to like smaller, less open dining areas in terms of atmosphere... overall - a "good find" both in its hole-in-the-wall location, as well as the food it delivers.
